Hi Donnielle! How long have you worked in the mental health field?
“15 years.”
What made you want to become a therapist?
“I enjoy connecting with folks and witnessing their journeys. It is such an honor to support folks in better understanding and having more compassion for themselves. Empowering folks to process life's challenges and live authentic lives is the reason I love this work.”
What area of women’s mental health are you most passionate about?
“Complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational challenges.”
What is your favorite part of being a therapist?
“My favorite thing about being a therapist is witnessing someone's journey. It's such an honor to show up for folks in all seasons of life. Seeing clients experience joy during and after great hardship is very powerful.”
What would you be voted “most likely to”?
“Most Likely to use an analogy during sessions!”
What is your personal top self care skill?
“Movement! Yoga, hiking, dancing, strength training, and rollerblading are crucial parts of my self-care routine.”
What do you like to do in your free time?
“In addition to movement practices, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, reading, puzzles, and watching reality TV. I'm also learning Spanish and how to crochet!”
And finally, what advice would you give someone who is just getting started in therapy?
“Starting therapy for the first time is so brave! I like to remind folks to embrace the process! Therapy can sometimes feel weird, uncomfortable, messy, and intense. It can also feel grounding, comforting, expansive, and joyful. Your therapist can support you in embracing all the emotions that come with the process.”
Thank you Donnielle, we’re so glad to celebrate you and all that you bring to Virago.
